ABOUT ERIN O'NEILL PHOTOGRAPHY

Artist Statement

Erin O'Neill is a artist based in Northern Ireland. Her work explores themes of identity and feminism within a social context. She explores the female body, the uncanny and often revealing the dark truth of the human condition within societal norms.

Her practice sits between photography, collage and portraiture, using the image as both document and material. Working primarily with photographic portraits, she deconstructs and reassembles images to question how feminine identity is formed and seen by society.

Through using fragmentation, layering and cutting images apart, the portrait becomes a symbol of reality- shifting between reality and fantasy and disgust and beauty.
